Slytherin House is associated with cunning, ambition and a tendency to look after their own. Due to the dark reputation it has, many people forget that Slytherins are fiercely loyal not only to their own but to the few wizards and witches that they call friends and family. A Slytherin's trust is not easily gained. It is recommended that when you have a Slytherin's trust, you do not abuse it because the Slytherin will never forgive and never forget. You better watch your back from that day because chances are high that they will get back at you when you least expect it.

In 1994, Jackson Whittemore and Theo Raeken went to Head of House Professor Snape to request a hierachy within Slytherin House. While there are Prefects and a Head Boy and Girl, these have to keep an eye on students from every House. Jackson and Theo suggested that there would be ranks within the House. Slytherins with these ranks will then be able to create rules that everyone from the House will have to follow (or else they will be in deep trouble). Professor Snape agreed with these terms and named Jackson and Theo the first ever Head Snakes and gave them permission to come up with rules and regulations. Santana was named Deputy Snake by them soon after.

These rules and regulations came into effect the next school year.

Rules and regulations

  • All Slytherins will appear as one unit outside the Slytherin dungeon.
  • If you have an issue with a fellow Slytherin member, it will be discussed inside the common room.
  • Homework will be done on time and to the best of your ability.

Outsider entrance to the Slytherin dungeons

The following members of the other Hogwarts Houses are allowed entrance to the Slytherin dungeons:

Head Snake

Deputy Snake

The Head and Deputy Snakes will have their own, individual rooms in the Slytherin dungeons, completely sealed off from the dorms. Their rooms are hidden behind a wall which can only be entered by the Head of House, the Head and Deputy Snakes themselves and the people they have given permission to enter.
